We have recently came across two properties that have had a broken water lines. Both customers didn’t know where their shut-off valve was.
In a new home the shut-off valve is typically near the water heater in the garage.
In a older home it may be in the garage or basement.
We also suggest you know where your water meter is on outside of your property. Typically along the road or in the front landscape beds.
When we begin a new project we have a 50-50 shot hitting a customers water line. 811 only marks the meter and does not mark the water line running into the house.
Builders don’t put tracing wire or tape in the trench.
